Local firm North Sea Ventilation (NSV) has boosted its Hull-based team thanks to the support of the Green Port Hub.

NSV is a specialist supplier of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems. Originally formed to serve North Sea oil and gas industries operating in the world's most hostile conditions today the company has a global reputation and deals with oil and gas providers worldwide. The company has recruited a wide range of roles through The Hub’s physical and online recruitment boards from labourers to office administration workers.

Darryl Clark, Works Manager at NSV said:

“We’ve recruited seven people via our advertisements with The Hub so far with a further two sheet metal workers starting next week. It was really quick and straightforward to get the word out there working with our contact at the Hub and I have recommended the service to a number of other businesses in the area.”

Run by the Green Port Growth Programme Skills and Employment team in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, The Hub provides a valuable recruitment channel for local companies working in manufacturing, engineering and renewables.

Darryl added:

“We used to deal with just oil and gas but now renewable energy is a rapidly growing sector. Around 25% of our business now comes from renewables – it’s good to be green!

“It’s been great to get support for our recent expansion from The Hub. We’ve found it a really fruitful recruitment channel. Relevant CVs just keep coming through and we’re busy recruiting in all areas.”

As well as supporting businesses with their recruitment needs the team at The Hub also offer job seekers assistance with job applications, CV writing and interview skills.

More than 3,700 people from across Hull and the East Riding have so far received support to apply for jobs, prepare for interviews and secure employment.

Bob Ferraby, Manager for the Green Port Growth Programme Skills and Employment team commented:

“The Hub has evolved since opening in 2015 and now we’ve broadened our services to incorporate all manufacturing, engineering and energy companies in the region.

“Not only do we help jobseekers; but also businesses. We want manufacturing and engineering firms in the area to know we have a lot to offer, whether it’s help with finding their next employee or sourcing funding for workforce training.”

Leader of Hull City Council, Councillor Stephen Brady said:

“The Green Port Hub is a valuable asset to the city and helps support recruiters within the renewable energy and manufacturing sectors. It’s fantastic to hear about companies using this resource to expand operations on a global level.”

The Hub is open: 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday/Tuesday, 1pm – 4.30pm Wednesday, 9.30am – 4.30pm Thursday and 9.30am - 1pm Friday.
