As one of Green Port Hull's legacy projects, The Greenpower Education Trust (Greenpower) inspires young people to design, build and race electric kit cars, offering them an experience like no other and Siemens Plc and Green Port Hull have rolled out this amazing initiative across the Humber.

Sixty teams consisting of girls and boys have constructed kit cars. The Greenpower challenge also introduced participants to wide range of STEM careers as they took charge of the media, business, sponsorship and finance aspects of their teams. Each team is also supported by a local business mentor.

Green Port Hull and Greenpower hosted the Hull Street Race, the UK’s first ever electric race on a closed pubic road. Held in the city centre this unique race saw talented students and drivers between the ages of 9 and 25 years old compete wheel to wheel in electric single-seater cars which they designed and built themselves around a challenging track.
