Point announce delivery of their first Wind Tower Entrance Door System for Hornsea Offshore Project 1.

With many years of experience building doors and hatches for renewables projects, Point Marine demonstrated the capability and relevant experience to win its first Offshore Wind Farm order for Tower Entrance Doors.

The units are manufactured in Hull by Point, incorporating their Lloyds certified Marine A60 Fire Door into the fabricated support assembly.

The A60 Fire Door is certified for international marine use in Shipping and Offshore applications. The Lloyds certification of the product secured the interest of their client, Wilton Engineering, who is supplying fit out for the Hornsea Offshore 1 Transition Pieces.

Welding and traceability control is vital for the contract with stringent coded welding, inspection and documentation compliance to the Offshore Standard DNVGL-OS-C401.

In addition to the A60 Fire Doors, POINT MARINE also designs and builds watertight doors and hatches for sea and land flood defence in naval, industrial & commercial applications.

The business secured funding for training and certification via Green Port Hull to attain the levels of compliance required to meet the high level standards required by the Offshore Wind Industry. The assistance provided by Green Port Hull enabled the company to take experience and knowledge gained from Oil & Gas projects to enter the offshore wind market. Everyone at Point Engineering thanks the Green Port Team across Hull and East Riding for their continued support.
