Piling Works

ABP and Siemens piling work is making good progress on the Green Port Hull Alexandra Dock site.

Construction working hours are set out in the table below.

Activity Hours of Work Permitted

Non-noisy / non-vibratory activity

An activity that does not generate disturbance to neighbouring occupiers
  • 24 hours/365 days
If complaints are received then an assessment will be made by an officer from Hull City Council Environmental Health on whether the works are deemed to be non-noisy/ non-vibratory

Noisy / vibratory activity

An activity that may generate disturbance to neighbouring occupiers
  • 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday
  • 08:00 - 13:00 Saturday
  • 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday for percussive (impact piling) for marine works
  • 08:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday for percussive (impact piling) landside works
  • Vibro piling may continue beyond 18.00 Monday to Friday subject to noise levels
Whilst best endeavours will be made to ensure that piling ceases at the correct time, in unforeseen circumstances, if it would constitute a health and safety reason to leave a partially driven pile piling will continue until the pile is considered safe.  In this instance the contractor is to notify an ABP Project Team member and ABP are to notify Hull City Council Environmental Health Officer. 
Percussive piling in the marine environment in order to comply with restrictions associated with the international Nature Conservation importance of the Humber Estuary.
  • 1st November to 6th April inclusive – 336 hours (where a single rig is in operation) or 560 hours (where two or more rigs are in operation)
Existing port operations within Alexandra Dock
  • 24 hours/365 days
