A Hull aggregates and tipper business has grown its business as a result of supplying the Green Port Hull project.

Stema Mibau, in joint venture with Hull-based Mike Wakefield Tippers Ltd, has provided 300,000 tonnes of granite to Graham Lagan JV, the main contractor on the marine construction of Siemen’s blade manufacturing facility at Alexandra Dock. This is in addition to the 30,000 tonnes delivered to other contractors working on the project.

Mike Wakefield Tippers Ltd is sole agent for Stema Mibau, which supplies granite based aggregates imported into Alexandra Dock from Norway.

Managing Director Mike Wakefield explains:

“Once operational, the Siemens factory at Alexandra Dock will have a large impact on our local economy and bring benefits for years to come. Not only is it great to be associated with this prestigious project via the supply chain, but this contract has already had a positive effect on business in the area. It has allowed us to expand our owner-operated fleet from 12 lorries to 17. This has helped several of the owner operators to grow their own business, with some doubling the number of lorries they run.”
